In 2025, the Indigenous Peoples of Asia Solidarity Fund (IPAS Fund) prioritizes support to three key sectors: Indigenous women, youth, and persons with disabilities. In Cambodia, Indigenous youth supported through the Cambodia Indigenous Youth Association (CIYA) are advancing a shared goal of strengthening Indigenous youth leadership.
With this spirit, CIYA convened its annual gathering with network member representatives, Indigenous youth, and students to strengthen leadership, communication skills, and intergenerational connections within the Indigenous youth movement in Cambodia.
Held in Phnom Penh, the event combined the association’s annual network meeting with a capacity-building session on public speaking. The training aimed to build confidence and equip Indigenous youth with practical skills to express their perspectives, advocate for their communities, and participate more effectively in public and policy spaces.
By investing in Indigenous youth capacity and networks, initiatives like this contribute to long-term movement building and to the self-determined futures of Indigenous Peoples in the region.
